For the first time, a Russian official admits the takeover by the Ukrainian army of several positions on the eastern bank of the Dnieper, in the Kherson region.

For a year, the river has served as a front line between the two armies.

Ukrainian forces managed to cross the river little by little.

According to Vladimir Saldo, the leader of this Russian-occupied southern area, up to one and a half companies of Ukrainian soldiers are defending several positions along the bank of the Dnieper as far as Khrynky, a town 30 km north of Kherson.

Vladimir Saldo’s confession comes a few days after the first anniversary of the liberation of Kherson by the Ukrainians.

Russian artillery nevertheless continues to regularly target the city.

At the beginning of November, the head of the Ukrainian army Valery Zalouzhny estimated that the two armies were “at an impasse” with a frozen front.
