The images are spectacular and violent and yet are widely shared on social networks, even approaching 10 million views on a single tweet. This Friday, December 15, late in the morning, in western Ukraine, an elected official threw grenades during a municipal council meeting. At this point, one person was killed in the explosion and 26 others were injured, including six in serious condition, according to a national police report. The perpetrator of the attack is among the latter. For the moment, no motive has been mentioned.

A few hours earlier, the Ukrainian air force said it had shot down fourteen drones launched from Krasnodar, in southern Russia, during the night. They targeted the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky and Poltava regions.

Kyiv says Moscow is trying daily to destroy its energy infrastructure, and is always demanding more resources for its anti-aircraft defense, but European and American aid is slow to arrive. A situation which could have consequences on the conflict, just like the fatigue of the soldiers on the front.

“We continue our work with our partners to preserve the unity of the defense of Ukraine, in Europe, with America and with all other countries in the world that support us, which support the state and international law”promises Volodymyr Zelensky in a speech broadcast on Friday.“The coming weeks will also be active in foreign policy and we have already started planning January activities”continues the Ukrainian president. “We will do our best to ensure that Ukraine is strong and that next year we can all trust in defense support, macro-financial support and political support. I am grateful to everyone who help!”

Russia is also on the offensive in the East, after the failure of the Ukrainian army’s summer counter-offensive, and claims to have also progressed in the South.
