A Ukrainian elected official pulled grenades during a municipal meeting, injuring 26 people. The attack took place in Transcarpathia, near the Hungarian border, according to police on the scene.
The images are spectacular and violent and yet are widely shared on social networks, even approaching 10 million views on a single tweet. This Friday, December 15, late in the morning, in western Ukraine, an elected official threw grenades during a municipal council meeting. At this point, one person was killed in the explosion and 26 others were injured, including six in serious condition, according to a national police report. The perpetrator of the attack is among the latter. For the moment, no motive has been mentioned.
A few hours earlier, the Ukrainian air force said it had shot down fourteen drones launched from Krasnodar, in southern Russia, during the night. They targeted the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky and Poltava regions.
Kyiv says Moscow is trying daily to destroy its energy infrastructure, and is always demanding more resources for its anti-aircraft defense, but European and American aid is slow to arrive. A situation which could have consequences on the conflict, just like the fatigue of the soldiers on the front.

Russia is also on the offensive in the East, after the failure of the Ukrainian army’s summer counter-offensive, and claims to have also progressed in the South.
