Director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced his support for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to activate Article 99 of the United Nations Charter.
This came in his blog post yesterday, Wednesday, on the X platform, commenting on Guterres’ activation of Article 99 of the United Nations Charter to describe the situation in the Gaza Strip and Israel as a threat to international peace and security.
Ghebreyesus said that the health system in Gaza is on the verge of collapse.
He emphasized the need for peace for health.

Earlier on Wednesday, the United Nations announced that Guterres had sent a letter to the President of the Security Council, in which he activated for the first time Article 99 of the United Nations Charter, given the magnitude of the loss of life in Gaza and Israel within a short period.
