The Jerusalem Post quoted informed sources that the United States had during the last days of Israel to postpone the major land operation in the Gaza Strip to exhaust the prisoners’ deal talks.
The sources said that the American demand included two main elements, namely the postponement of the comprehensive operation in the Gaza Strip and the enabling negotiations that are underway.
The newspaper pointed out that Israeli officials confirmed that once the comprehensive wild operation in Gaza began, Israel will not withdraw from the areas it enters, even as part of a possible agreement. Moreover, the possibility of a ceasefire will become part of any more complicated agreement.
This is intersecting with the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who said earlier, “Once the maneuver began, we will work with full force and we will not stop until all the goals are achieved.”
The Jerusalem Post indicated that despite the departure of the Israeli delegation, Qatar, last Thursday, the US administration continues its indirect talks with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
It quoted Israeli officials that the only agreement currently presented within the “Witkeovs Plan”, which includes the release of 10 prisoners and the ceasefire for 60 days.
Although Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not rule out a few days ago, he agreed to a temporary ceasefire “if there is an opportunity to return the prisoners,” but one of the sources that spoke to the Peruzalim Post said that negotiations are in front of a “dead end.”
And repeatedly, Hamas announced its readiness to release the Israeli prisoners at once, in exchange for ending the extermination war, the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza, and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
But Netanyahu insists on his conditions for ending the war, saying, “He is ready to end the fighting according to clear conditions: to return all the kidnappers, deny the Hamas leadership from Gaza, and remove Hamas.”
Israel has committed absolute American support since October 7, 2023 genocide in Gaza, which left more than 176,000 Palestinians between a martyr and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, along with hundreds of thousands of displaced people.
