An Israeli strike killed almost the whole family of a Khan Younis doctor while at work, Gaza health officials said.
On Friday, the attack struck Alaa Al-Najjar’s house, a pediatrician at the Nasser Hospital in Southern City, by setting it on fire and killing nine of his 10 children, according to the chief of the hospital department of the hospital, Ahmad al-Farra.
The dead children, two of whom remain under the rubble, go from seven months to 12 years, said the Gaza government media office. He appointed them Sidar, Luqman, Sadin, Reval, Ruslan, Jubran, Eve, Rakan and Yahya.
Al-Najjar’s husband was seriously injured in the attack. He has serious breast and head injuries, including a skull fracture, and now receives treatment in the intensive care unit of Nasser, Al-Farra told Tel Aviv Tribune.
The only surviving child of the couple, Adam, 11, is also seriously injured. He is currently “in the moderate intensive care department with his mother,” said Al-Farra.
“It’s incredible,” said Al-Farra about the impact of the attack. “You cannot imagine the shock that (Al-Najjar) has had when she heard of this (attack). But so far, she tries to be near her son and her husband to survive.”
He called on people around the world to “be on the right side of humanity” and to denounce the bombing. “These children, they have no voice. Their mother … she is (in shock), “he said. “Please, I ask everyone to be his voice (in) this world. Please.”
“New genocide phase”
The UN special rapporteur for Palestinian territory, Francesca Albanese, criticized the attack on the house of Al-Najjar as part of a “sadistic model” of a “new phase of genocide” against the Palestinians in the besieged enclave.

Hamas said it had followed a routine from Israel “deliberately targeting … medical staff, civilians and their families to try to break their will”.
The Israeli army said that they had struck suspect fighters operating from a structure next to its forces in an area where civilians had been evacuated. “The complaint regarding damage to uninvited civilians is being examined,” added the soldiers.
On Monday, Israel published forced evacuation orders for Khan Younis, the second largest city in Gaza, warning of an “unprecedented attack”. There have been heavy and deadly bombings in the region daily.
The children of Al-Najjar were among dozens killed during the attacks in Israel on Friday and Saturday.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the bodies of 79 people killed in Israeli attacks were introduced into hospitals between Friday and noon on Saturday. This number does not include installations in the north of the inaccessible enclave, he said.
The ministry has been taking stock of Gaza since October 2023 at 53,901, with 122,593 injured.
