US President Donald Trump is still studying military intervention options amid the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran, and the continued mutual bombing that does not seem to be able to resolve the battle in the interest of either side.
While the Israeli army was able to kill Iranian military leaders and destroy facilities above the ground, many questions arise about the effectiveness of the Israeli strikes in hitting the Fordo facility, the beating heart of the Iranian nuclear program, according to expert Behnam bin Taliblo, from the “Defense Democrats” research institution.

How deep is the Iranian Fordo nuclear facility?
The Fordo Fuel Future Establishment is about 95 km southwest of Tehran, and about 32 km south of the city of Qom, the seventh largest city in Iran and has a population of about 1.4 million people, a major religious and political center.
The Fordo facility is built inside a mountain, and it is said that it is located at a depth of between 80 and 90 meters underground, to be able to withstand air strikes and supernatural bombs.
It is believed that the construction of the facility began in 2006, and entered the operating cycle in 2009, the same year in which Iran officially recognized.
The facility is a challenge to the Israeli targeting that seeks to end the Iranian nuclear program, due to its strong position in the depth of the mountains of the Fordo region, which makes it difficult to destroy through traditional air attacks.

Other nuclear sites have been targeted
It is believed that Israel has destroyed the upper part of the Natanz Establishment facility, the largest nuclear site in Iran.
According to the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency, the power outages caused by the bombing may also cause damage to the underground enrichment halls in the facility.

On Monday, Raphael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said that there is a possibility of radioactive and chemical pollution from the affected Natanz website.
In an emergency session of the agency in Vienna, Grusi said that the levels of radiation are still normal outside the site of Natanz and Isfahan Al -Nawawi, both of which were subjected to Israeli strikes. But he warned that the ongoing military escalation increases the risk of radiological leakage.
