Prime Minister Qatari Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani condemned the Israeli strike on Doha as “state terrorism”, warning that Qatar will not tolerate the violations of his sovereignty.

Israel struck the capital of Qatar on Tuesday, Doha, in missile attacks which, according to them, aimed at the senior leaders of Hamas, including the negotiators of the Palestinian group who embarked on talks on the creation of a ceasefire in Gaza.
Qatar condemned the attack as a violation of international law and its sovereignty, with several countries and blocks which are also unleashed in Israel.
The attack occurred at a time when Qatar, one of the main mediators between Israel and the United States, on the one hand, and Hamas on the other hand, had tried to negotiate a cease-fire in Gaza, where Israel has killed more than 64,600 people since October 2023, when she launched a war on the Palestinian Nave.
Here is what we know so far about the strikes of Israel on Tuesday:
Tuesday, around 3 p.m. local time (12:00 p.m. GMT), several explosions were heard in Doha, and dark smoke plumes were above the horizon.
People have said they heard explosions in city districts. They were also audible at the Tel Aviv Tribune office in the city.
Shortly after 4 p.m. local time (1:00 p.m. GMT), the Israeli army confirmed that it had fired missiles in Doha, targeting a complex that welcomed Hamas political leaders. Shortly after, the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement condemning the attack.
This is the first time that Israel has attached Qatar, a country that its own negotiators have visited several times in the past two years for cease-fire talks mediated by the government in Doha.
The attack took place in the West Bay Lagoon region in Doha, which houses many foreign embassies, schools, supermarkets and compounds sheltering Qataris as well as residents around the world.
An official in Hamas told Tel Aviv Tribune Arabic that the attack had targeted the cease-fire negotiators in Hamas. The attack occurred while Hamas negotiators met to examine the last cease-fire proposal presented by the United States.
Suhail al-Hindi, member of the Hamas political bureau, confirmed that the group’s management, targeted in Doha, had survived the attack.
Among those who would have been targeted were senior leaders Khalil al-Hayya and Khaled Meshaal.
But the son of Al-Hayya, Humam, and one of his best collaborators, were killed in the attack, al-Hindi told Tel Aviv Tribune. The contact had also been lost with three bodyguards, he said.
“The blood of the direction of the movement is like the blood of any Palestinian child,” said Al-Hindi.
In addition to the son of Al-Hayya, Humam, and an assistant, Qatar confirmed late in the evening that at least a Qatari security official died during the attack. Other members of the Qatar security forces have been injured, said the country’s interior ministry.
“The specialized teams continue to inspect and secure the targeted area with the division of explosives of the internal security forces,” the ministry said in a statement.
Hamas said six people had been killed in all.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published a post on Tuesday said that Israel had acted alone.
“Today’s action against Hamas’ main terrorist leaders was a completely independent Israeli operation,” said the post.
“Israel has launched it, Israel has led him and Israel assumes full responsibility.”
Netanyahu and the Minister of Israel of Defense, Israel Katz, published a joint statement justifying the attack and the striker at the East Jerusalem-East shooting on Monday during which six Israelis were killed.
“The Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense thought that the operation was completely justified in the light of the fact that this management of Hamas had initiated and organized the massacre of October 7, and has not stopped launching deadly actions against the State of Israel and its citizens since then,” the statement said.
Doha’s strikes violate the Charter of the United Nations – to vioder the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar.
But the Israeli opposition chief, Yair, Lapid, praised the attack in an article on social networks, saying: “Congratulations to the Air Force (Israeli army), Shin Bet and all the security forces for an exceptional operation to thwart our enemies.”
Israeli ambassador to the United States suggested more attempts to eliminate Hamas leaders in Qatar or elsewhere.
“If we didn’t get them this time, we will get them next time,” said Yechiel Leiter during an interview with the Fox News program “Special Report” on Tuesday.
Mustafa Barghouti, secretary general of the Palestinian national initiative, said that the Israeli attack on Doha represents a “turning point that will have dangerous implications” for the Middle East.
“This operation is against Qatar, which leads mediation efforts and against the management of Hamas who discusses the American proposal,” said Barghouti. “Is there a worst impudence?”
Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, published a statement sentenced the attack. “This criminal attack is a blatant violation of all international laws and standards and a serious threat to the security and security of Qataris and residents of Qatar,” the statement said.
“While strongly condemning this attack, the state of Qatar affirms that it will not tolerate this imprudent Israeli behavior and its continuous falsification of regional security, as well as any action targeting its security and its sovereignty. The surveys are underway at the highest level, and other details will be announced as soon as they are available. ”
The Qatar Interior Ministry said the explosions heard in Doha were the result of an attack on the Hamas residential seat.
“The ministry confirms that the specialized teams work (on the scene) and that the situation is sure and calls everyone to obtain information from official sources,” he said in an article on social networks.
Qatar Airways confirmed in a statement that its flight operations had not been affected.
The declaration is read as follows: “The recent unhappy events of Doha did not have an impact on the operations of Qatar Airways and there was no interruption.
The United States Embassy in Qatar had issued a shelter on site for its staff. However, he raised the order shortly after.
Several countries have condemned Israel’s attack on Qatar. Some Arab leaders visit Qatar on Wednesday and Thursday in a demonstration of solidarity.
The Ministry of Saudi Affairs has published a declaration saying that it “condemns and denounces the highest terms of the brutal Israeli aggression and the flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the fraternal state of Qatar”. Saudi crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman is expected to arrive in Doha on Thursday, Reuters reported, quoting an unnamed official.
Riyadh has also warned of “serious consequences resulting from the persistence of the Israeli occupation in its criminal transgressions and its blatant violation of the principles of international law and all international standards”.
The Turkiye’s foreign ministry said the attack revealed that Israel was not interested in an agreement to end the war against Gaza.
“The targeting of the Hamas negotiation delegation, while the cease-fire talks continue show that Israel is not intended to reach peace, but rather to continue the war,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs judged the attack on a “violation of international law”, Iranian media reported.
The United Arab Emirates (Water), the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, published a statement expressing his solidarity with Qatar, qualifying the attack on “flagrant and loose”. The President of the Water arrived in Qatar on Wednesday.
Jordan also condemned the attack. On Wednesday, Crown Prince Hussein was due to arrive in Qatar.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote in an article on social networks: “This act of aggression by Israel is completely unjustified, a cheeky violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and constitutes a most dangerous provocation that could implement regional peace and stability.”
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres described strikes as “blatant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Egypt, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria, Maldives, Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria and the Gulf Cooperation Council also condemned the attack.
French President Emmanuel Macron said in an article on X that the attack on Qatar was “unacceptable, whatever reason”, expressing solidarity with the Emir of Qatar. “War should in no case spread in the region,” he added.
The United Kingdom warned against the “additional escalation of violence” in the region and said that it had no prior knowledge of the attack.
Qatar has welcomed the Hamas political office since 2012, after what Qatari officials say they are requests from the United States.
The Nation of the Gulf of Qatar has long served as a mediator, both in the Middle East and further. The country has good relations with nations that oppose each other, such as the United States and Iran, and therefore serves as a place where conversations can occur between adversaries.
The presence of many leaders of the Palestinian group of Hamas in Doha noted that the city has become a basis for negotiations to end the War of Israel against Gaza and ensure the release of Israeli captives held in the enclave.

But that seems to be in danger after Israel’s attack on several Hamas leaders in Doha on Tuesday.
Why are these leaders based in Qatar? And what is Qatar’s relationship with the Palestinian movement? Let’s take a closer look:
Hamas opened its political bureau for the first time in Qatar in 2012, after the leaders – including Khaled Meshaal – left Syria a year after the war in this country.
Qatari officials said on several occasions that the decision to welcome Hamas leaders had come after a request from the United States. In an opinion article in 2023 for the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the Qatari Ambassador to the United States, the sheikh Hamad Al Thani bac, said Washington wanted the office “established indirect communication lines with Hamas”.
Various senior Hamas leaders are based in Qatar or were based there as a result of the opening of the Hamas office.
The Meshaal mentioned above, who is the former leader of the Hamas political office and who himself survived an attempted Israeli assassination of 1997 in Jordan, moved to Qatar in 2012 and has been based there since.
Ismail Haniyeh, who succeeded Meshaal as a political leader and was previously the Palestinian Prime Minister, was also based in Qatar from 2017, the year he left Gaza to become a political leader. Haniyeh was assassinated by Israel in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in July 2024.
The other leaders based in Qatar are Khalil al-Hayya, member of the Hamas Leadership Council, and Mousa Abu Marzouk.
Qatar is considered one of the most important mediators in the region and the international, making it an influential player.
The country has provided financial aid in Gaza – which has been in the form of blockade by Israel since 2007 – for years, and is also one of the main champions of the Palestinian cause.
Providing a political base for Hamas is the result of a combination of these two factors.
In its WSJ opinion element, the Sheikh Meshal of Qatar justified the presence of the Hamas office because it had been “frequently used in mediation efforts, helping to defuse conflicts in Israel and in the Palestinian territories”.
“The presence of the Hamas office should not be confused with approval but rather establishes an important channel for indirect communication,” said Sheikh Meshal.
Last year, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Al Thani suggested that Qatar could seek to reassess his mediation role, as some parts had used mediation for “narrow political interest”.
The recognition of Qatar as a mediator and a safe basis for political groups around the world has led its capital to agree on a certain number of different international players.
A number of Arab political figures have moved to Qatar, especially following the Arab Spring.
Apart from that, Qatar welcomed the Taliban’s political bureau from 2013 while he was fighting against the United States and the former Afghan government. The Taliban political office was also opened at the request of the United States to provide a place of peace talks.
And, of course, Qatar welcomes the United States in the form of the largest Washington military base in the Middle East, the Al Udeid air base.
Washington, DC – The administration of American president Donald Trump said that he had informed Qatari officials before the attack on Israel against Hamas negotiators in Doha, a complaint refuted by the country of the Gulf.
The declaration of the White House on Tuesday occurred a few hours after the strike in a residential area of the capital of Qatar, Doha. Qatar was a main mediator in cease-fire talks supported by the United States aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

“The Trump administration was informed by the American army that Israel attacked Hamas, which was unfortunately located in a section of Doha, the capital of Qatar,” said White House spokesman Karoline Leavitt, to journalists.
“Bombing unilaterally in Qatar, a sovereign nation and an ally close to the United States which works very hard and courageously take risks with us to negotiate peace, does not advance the objectives of Israel or America,” she said. “However, the elimination of Hamas, which has benefited from the misery of those who live in Gaza, is a worthy objective.”
Leavitt added that Trump had ordered his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to “inform Qataris of the imminent attack”.
However, Qatar refuted characterization, with a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, saying that the statements that the government had been “pre-informed of the attack is completely false”.
“The appeal which was received from an American official came during the sound of the explosions resulting from the Israeli attack in Doha,” Majed al-Ansari wrote in a press release on X.
Qatar Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman, Al Thani, said that the United States’s appeal came ten minutes after the start of the attack, describing the incident as “state terrorism”.
Hamas said the strike had killed five of its members, but that its main negotiation team had survived. Among the dead was an Qatari security officer, said the country’s interior ministry.
Trump later declared that he felt “very badly of the site of the attack” and that he had assured in Qatar that it would not happen again.
“It was a decision made by Prime Minister Netanyahu, it was not a decision made by me,” wrote Trump on his social platform Truth.
He repeated the White House declaration on the attack without advancing the objectives of Israel and the United States, and that he had asked Witkoff to warn Qatar, but it was “unfortunately, too late to stop the attack”.
Qatar had helped negotiate a break in the fighting in Gaza in November 2023 and a six-week ceasefire in January 2025. Its role was regularly congratulated by the administration of former American president Joe Biden and the current President Trump.
Israel struck the center of Doha just a few days after Trump issued the Hamas negotiation team when he was pressured for a new ceasefire. The United States has repeatedly accused Hamas of blocking negotiations. Israel has been accused of having several times excited the talks.
“The Israelis have accepted my conditions. It is time for Hamas to accept too,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.
“I warned Hamas from the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another! ”
After the attack, Hamas said the targeted people had discussed Trump’s last proposal.
The group added that the strike “confirms out of doubt that Netanyahu and its government do not want to reach any agreement and deliberately seek to thwart all opportunities and to thwart international efforts”.
“We hold the American administration jointly responsible for the (Israeli) occupation of this crime, because of its continuous support for the assault and the crimes of the occupation against our people,” said the group.
Leavitt, on the other hand, told journalists that Trump “thinks that this unhappy incident could serve as a opportunity for peace”.
She said Trump had spoken with Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel after the strike, but did not say if he threatened actions against the ally of the United States.
Qatari Amiri Diwan also confirmed in a statement that the US President held a telephone call with the Emir Qatari Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and condemned the attack.
“For his part, his Highness The Emir said that the state of Qatar condemns and denounces in the strongest terms of this imprudent criminal attack and considers it a blatant violation of its sovereignty and its security and a clear violation of the rules and principles of international law,” said Diwan.
Sheikh Tamim said the attack threatened the region’s stability and obstructed “efforts to defuse and reach sustainable diplomatic solutions”.
“Qatar will take all the necessary measures to protect its security and preserve its sovereignty,” said the statement quoted Sheikh Tamim.
Qatar has indicated that it will not give up, for the moment, its role as mediator.
Despite the declarations of the White House, Khalil Jahshan, executive director of the Arab center of Washington DC, said that many countries and residents of the region will always consider the Trump administration as an accomplice.
“When Israel receives a green light to wreak havoc in the region and violate international law, violate the sovereignty of nations which are not even enemies, but in fact allies very close to the United States, you have to ask yourself: where is in Israel and why would Israel be authorized to do this?” He said.
Qatar, which remained a fervent supporter of Palestinian rights, was appointed “major non-nato ally” in 2022, a status that the American State Department described as a “powerful symbol” of close strategic links and a demonstration of “deep respect for friendship for the countries to which it is extended”.
Jahshan said the honorary, following the Israel strike, had been “reduced to nothing”.
“If this status allows you to be exposed to attacks by an American ally with an American green light, then, for me, I prefer not to have friends like this,” he said.
Qatar also houses the Al Udeid air base, the largest American military installation in the Middle East. With the US Air Force, the base houses Qatar Emiri Air Force, the United Kingdom Royal Air Force and a total of around 10,000 people.
The country has also positioned itself as a diplomatic asset for the United States and other Western powers, for years of political offices of major groups for their foreign policy, including Hamas and the Taliban. Qatari officials said they had agreed to welcome the Hamas office over ten years ago at the request of Washington.
Nabeel Khoury, who was previously deputy chief of the mission at the United States Embassy in Yemen, said that the site of Tuesday’s strike, in the heart of Doha and a few kilometers from Al Udeid, left him amazed.
“As cynical as I am and as used as I am for Israeli excesses, I must say that I was shocked,” he said. “I think everyone should be shocked and should be woken up from the dream in reality that Israel has now become a completely rogue state.”
Khoury said the strike would probably cool diplomacy, further undergoing the credibility of the United States in the region and would take a break from all groups or allies who plan to participate in the negotiations supported by the United States.
“Honestly, I don’t see how someone, especially in the Arab world, can continue to manage the United States,” said Khoury.
Jahshan added that the neighbors of Qatar, including the United Arab Emirates, who normalized relations with Israel in 2020, and Saudi Arabia, which has long been regarded as a jewel of the crown in Israeli-Arab normalization, will feel pressure to gain a strong position.
“If they allow one of them to be the target of such an attack, then they are all targets for such attacks in the future,” he said. “How do they do it?”
While leaders arrive in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, Palestinian Key Voices are missing. The United States has refused visas for 80 Palestinian officials, including President Mahmoud Abbas. If the UN cannot guarantee free access, that this signals its neutrality and on the way from Palestine to recognition?

The management of Hamas survived the attempted assassination of Israel in the Qatari Doha capital, but at least six people were killed in the attack, according to an official statement from the Palestinian group.
In its first official statement on Tuesday evening, the Palestinian group said that Israel’s attack was intended to derail prisoners’ exchange talks and cease-fire negotiations to end the genocidal war of Israel against Gaza which killed more than 64,000 people.

“This once again reveals the criminal nature of the occupation and his desire to undermine every chance of achieving an agreement,” said Hamas.
The Palestinian group described the attack as “heinous crime, a blatant assault and a blatant violation of all international standards and laws”.
The group confirmed that at least six people, including the son and one of the aid of the head of Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya, were killed in the attack which attracted the world conviction. The Qatari Interior Ministry said that a security guard was one of the people killed.
Earlier, a member of the Hamas political office, Suhail Al-Hindi, said that the Palestinian group occupies the United States administration responsible for the attack, that the Qatari Foreign Ministry condemned “in the strongest terms”.
The Emir Sheikh of Qatar Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani also condemned “the imprudent criminal attack” of Israel in the capital Doha during a telephone call with American president Donald Trump. The attack is “a blatant violation of its sovereignty and security …”, said Sheikh Tamim on Tuesday in a statement.
The leaders of Hamas, said Al-Hindi, met a positive perspective on the last proposal for the American ceasefire to end the war in Gaza.
Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent, Nida Ibrahim, said from Doha that the unprecedented attack on the city, which organized negotiations for a potential ceasefire in Gaza, reflected how Israel is “embracing” Israel “by being able to achieve a genocide and get away with it”.
The Hamas office was created in the country at the request of the United States to facilitate peace talks.
Saudi Arabia “denounced in the strongest terms of the brutal Israeli aggression and the flagrant violation of sovereignty of the fraternal state of Qatar”, while other Arab leaders have joined the condemnation of the Israeli attack.
The leaders of the United Kingdom and France also condemned the attack on Tuesday, with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer saying that this had violated the sovereignty of Qatar, while French President Emmanuel Macron described the attack as “unacceptable”.
The Prime Minister of Qatar and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani described the attack as “state terrorism”.
Sheikh Mohammed clearly indicated that Israeli strikes “should not be overlooked”, saying that Qatar mobilizes all the tools to respond to the attack beyond declarations and convictions, including by forming a legal team to hold responsible Israel.
The Qatari Prime Minister suggested that countries in the Middle East must meet to brake in Israel. “Today, we have reached a turning point so that there is a response from the whole region against such barbaric conduct,” he said.
Explosions were reported in Doha during the first attack of this type by Israel in Qatar, a key mediator in the cease-fire talks between Israel and Hamas and which houses the largest American military base in the region, Al Udeid Airbase, which welcomes American troops.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed in a statement that the Israeli army had led to Doha on Tuesday against Hamas leaders. “Israel has launched it, Israel has managed it and Israel assumes its responsibility,” he said.
The press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, told journalists that the administration of American president Donald Trump had been informed by the American army that Israel attacked Hamas, which “was unfortunately located in a section of Doha, the capital of Qatar”.
Leavitt said Trump “immediately managed” Steve Witkoff’s special envoy to inform Qatar of the attack.
The White House said Trump had assured Qatari officials that such attacks will not be repeated.
“The president considers Qatar as a strong ally and a friend of the United States, and feels very bad about the site of this attack,” said Leavitt.
“The president also spoke with the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar and thanked them for their support and friendship to our country,” she added. “He assured them that such a thing will not happen again on their soil.”
But Doha challenged Washington’s account. The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatari, Al-Ansari, rejected the idea that Qatar was warned in advance. He said that the only call received from an American official had come when the explosions were already changing the capital.
In Gaza, death seems easier than the endless suffering of the trip. Death ends pain; The trip only aggravates the situation, opening an injury that never heals.
In Gaza City, people face two bitter choices: stay and may be killed or imprisoned, or flee south to an impossible life in a camp. The displacement is not just a relocation – it is a slow death. He embarks on a trip without knowing if there will be shelter, food or water at the end. This means exhaustion, roaming and fear. Even reaching a refuge offers no real security because death can always follow you there.
Since the start of the war, my family and I have been moved 15 times. Each time was more difficult than that before. Each time, we have lost our goods, our health, our feeling of security.
It all started in October 2023. We fled our house in the Tal al-Hawa district, which was then bombed in November, and wanted a shelter at the neighboring Al-Bahrain school. We stayed there until mid-November. From there, we went to my uncle in Tal al-Hawa, then to my aunt’s house in the Zeitoun region. We then went to another uncle in Tal al-Hawa; When this area has become too dangerous, we moved two streets to another parent’s house. From there, we moved to our neighbors then in the basement. When a missile landed near us without exploding, we fled again at the Al-Bahrain school. From there, we moved to my cousin in the Daraj region, but then it became dangerous, so we moved to the port area. We returned to my cousin, then finally to my grandfather in the Daraj region. The situation has become dangerous again, so we went to the port for a while, then back to my grandfather.
We stayed there for a while when the famine was deepening. Famine deeply affected me. Whenever I saw food, it seemed to shrink before my eyes. I was afraid of eating a lot and I was crying while eating because I was afraid that one of us could starve. I lost 10 kg (22 lb) and I became very weak. I was diagnosed with deficiencies of anemia and vitamins.
In July, we decided to sell the tent we used during the trip for $ 140. We bought flour with money.
When Israel said he was going to attack Gaza City again, we fell into total despair. For my family – like many others – moving was impossible. We had no money for transportation, no parents in the south and no tent.
The tents have now become rare and scandalously expensive – you can cost up to $ 1,000. Even if you have a tent, finding a place to throw is a challenge. Even what was once a bare land now costs $ 30 per square meter (11 square feet) per month.
So we decided to stay while others run south.
Then on September 7, our house was bombed. Our neighbors received a telephone call from the Israelis that the mosque next to our building would be bombed; We were given seven minutes to evacuate the area.
I grabbed clothes and an office lamp – a gift from a dear friend – put them in a bag and ran out with my brothers and sisters. Seven minutes have passed and nothing happened. My father returned to the building to collect a few other things and came out. He then returned with my brothers and sisters to take some other things. He returned a third time to eliminate food. We cried out: “Why was he returned?” Why was he returned? ” I broke down, crying and shouting: “My father!”
A few moments later, my father emerged, hugging the bag of flour. Yes, this is what a father is – the one who risks his life to get bread for his family.
We thought we were all safe, but we were not. Instead of bombing the mosque, the Israelis hit my grandfather’s house. He was too close to the building and was martyred.
We are now again homeless and mourning the loss of a loved one.
We were forced to go to my aunt in an area that also received evacuation orders and was threatened by the Israelis with bombing. We stay there even if it is dangerous because we have nowhere to go.
Israel claims that the South is safe, but it is false. Every two days we hear a story of Israeli drones bombing the Al-Mawasi camps. Barely a week ago, Israel bombed a tent belonging to a family only three hours after their arrival from Northern Gaza; Three family members were martyred.
We fear what Israel has planned to us. We have read the reports on the concentration camps established in the south, resembling those set up by the Nazis. Rumors have spread according to which people’s names will be replaced by figures; The phones will be confiscated so that there is no documentation; Food will be rationed.
The trip stole not only our houses and our memories, but our very souls. Our faces are pale hunger, sorrow and fear.
I was once a merchant of hope, but now I pray even for a single word. I endured famine, thirst, missiles and unbearable losses. I may not survive my 15th trip.
