Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper revealed from sources that the Israeli army has completed most of the work to establish a buffer zone in the Gaza Strip, and indicated that the army forces are shooting at anyone who enters the buffer zone.

The newspaper indicated that the buffer zone inside the Strip is between one and two kilometers deep, and near the border with Israel. She explained that the Israeli army completed the deployment of advanced monitoring and imaging systems in the buffer zone with Gaza.

This revelation of a buffer zone comes as the Israeli occupation army called on residents to evacuate areas in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip. This call is the first of its kind in weeks regarding the besieged southern Gaza Strip, after the occupation forces shifted their focus to the north of the Strip in October. Last October.

In early February, the Associated Press said that its analysis of satellite images revealed new destruction operations carried out by Israeli forces at a depth of one kilometer on the edge of the Gaza Strip, as part of an attempt to create a “security buffer zone” despite international objections and warnings.

The agency stated – in a report based on expert assessments – that images from the company “Plant Labs BBC” showed widespread destruction of buildings and bulldozing of lands in an area of 6 square kilometers in the Khirbet Khuza’a area, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

According to the report, the establishment of the buffer zone will consume approximately 60 square kilometers of the total area of the Gaza Strip, which amounts to about 360 square kilometers.

The Israeli Channel 12 reported – in late June – that the Israeli army intends to expand the buffer zone along 14 kilometers of the Philadelphia axis to destroy the tunnels and preserve what it described as its “achievements” in Rafah, south of the Strip.

With American support and in full view of the whole world, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 150,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded – most of them children and women – and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children. And the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters.

Israel continues its massacres, ignoring two arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court on November 21, against its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinians.

Israel also defies the UN Security Council resolution to end the war immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
