The President of the World Jewish Congress praised the role of the Qatari leadership in the efforts aimed at releasing all remaining Israeli prisoners held by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), expressing his gratitude to all parties that contributed to those efforts.
Ronald Lauder particularly commended the tremendous efforts made by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and its Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, to conclude a deal that would allow the release of these prisoners.
He stated that, as President of the World Jewish Congress, he expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in the efforts to release all remaining hostages, noting in particular the role of the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar, “who worked tirelessly, alongside the leaders of the United States and Egypt, to secure the release of all prisoners.”
Lauder stressed that achieving this is essential for regional stability and security, as confirmed by many members of the international community, “especially the Qatari leadership, which has devoted a great deal of time and effort to securing the release of all hostages and the entry of humanitarian relief into Gaza,” he said.
Lauder said that shared human values urge the release of such prisoners, stressing that this is in line with the teachings of the Qur’an, which states that whoever saves a life “is as if he had saved the whole of mankind,” and what is stated in the Talmud, which states that “whoever saves a single life is considered in the Bible as if he had saved the world.” These timeless teachings are a reminder that “our collective efforts can create a better and safer world for all,” he said.
