The World Health Organization said Israel has denied entry to medical professionals seeking to support clinics in the Gaza Strip, according to the United Nations.

The organization said – on Thursday – that 8 organizations and more than 50 specialized employees have been affected since August by the Israeli siege.

According to the organization, the specialists were scheduled to provide vital support for various medical services, in addition to psychological support for healthcare workers in facilities such as the Gaza European Hospital and Nasser Hospital.

CNN reported that among the organizations that were prevented from entering Gaza was the non-profit Palestinian American Medical Society, which supports Palestinians in need of medical care.

The World Health Organization notes that this is the first time that Israel has prevented entire organizations from participating in relief efforts for the Gaza Strip.

The World Health Organization emphasized the indispensable role of these external teams in providing basic medical services.

The World Health Organization called for full permission for emergency relief teams to enter.
