The US President’s envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkeov, said that if the new round of talks with Iran is not fruitful, this negotiation will not continue and there will be another path, as he put it.

Witkeov said in an interview with the American Prostaian website yesterday, Friday, that Washington will not accept a bad agreement, and will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon, expressing his hope for the success of the next round of talks held tomorrow, Sunday, in the Sultanate of Oman.

The American envoy said, “The Iranians cannot own a nuclear bomb. They assured us that they do not want to get it, so, and for these talks, we will take their words seriously.”

“The Iranian enrichment facilities must be dismantled. They cannot own central expulsion devices. They have to reduce the rate of fertilization of all their fuel there and send it to a far place, and they must turn into a civil program.”

Earlier on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araraqi confirmed that it was decided to hold the fourth round of indirect negotiations with the United States on Sunday, based on an Omani proposal approved by Tehran.

He explained in press statements that “progress in the negotiating path requires more consultations and time to study the content of the negotiations. Our discussions are moving forward and gradually fighting the details.”

Araqji stressed that the Iranian position is “principled and does not change”, but “the American party provides contradictory messages on negotiations, perhaps as a negotiating savvy, or because the American administration has not yet defined its policies towards negotiations.”

The United States withdrew in 2018, during the first state of Donald Trump, from the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and global powers, and adopted the policy of “maximum pressure” against Tehran.

After returning to the White House last January, Trump re -adopted the policy of “maximum pressure”, but he sent a message to the Iranian leadership inciting it to hold talks on the nuclear file.
