The proposal has sparked heated debate in Israel, while Hamas says there is still work to be done.

US President Joe Biden announced a three-phase plan that he said paves the way for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

But the challenge now is how to convince Israel and Hamas to accept it.

The White House says that if the Palestinian group accepts this deal, Israel will too.

But as soon as the announcement was made, allies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to leave his government if he treated him positively.

And Netanyahu reiterated what he has been saying since October 7: Hamas must be destroyed and the Israeli hostages in Gaza must be returned.

So, does Biden’s proposal have any chance of success?
