Will Gaza finally have a ceasefire? | Policy


The American president says he will be “very firm” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Although it is not clear that Israeli leaders want to end the “war forever” that they launched in the aftermath of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, the United States has enough lever to force a truce, supports the guest scholarship holder at the University of Georgetown, Khaled Elgindy.

Annelle Sheline, a former head of the State Department who left to protest against the policies of President Biden Gaza, argues that the War of Israel was “not really on Hamas”, but more on the Israeli desire to control Gaza, the West Bank and the region in the broad sense.
