In Gaza, pregnant women are forced to give birth in tents, with hospitals – once shelters for pregnant women – now targets.

Pregnancy can be one of the most joyful human experiences, but for the women of Gaza it is another desperate battle for survival. Hospitals, once shelters for pregnant women, are now targets in Gaza.

The UN estimates that there are currently more than 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza and that an average of 180 give birth every day, despite a health system that has virtually collapsed. With lack of food and fuel, unsanitary conditions and incessant Israeli bombing, Gaza is now one of the most dangerous places in the world for a child.
