Why did the “wind coat” system fail to protect the Israeli troop carrier in Rafah? | News

The military and strategic expert, Colonel Hatem Karim Al-Falahi, said that the “wind coat” system that protects the Israeli personnel carrier cannot operate in built-up areas, stressing that it requires a long distance and an open area for the sensors to work well.

This came in Al-Falahi’s comment on the results of the initial investigation of the occupation army, which concluded that the armored personnel carrier in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, was targeted by an anti-tank missile, indicating that this missile penetrated the explosives and mines compartment, and the explosions did not provide a chance for the soldiers to survive.

During his analysis of the military scene in Gaza, the strategic expert added that the Israeli armored vehicle was targeted because of the close distance and the failure to discover the targets that were heading towards it, referring to more than 1,700 Israeli military vehicles that have been targeted in the same way since the beginning of the war, including tanks, personnel carriers, and bulldozers.

According to Al-Falahi, there is a field problem related to the lack of experience of the military leadership of the occupation army, in addition to the low level of combat performance of the Israeli soldier, and the lack of intelligence information on which the sectors rely.

On the other hand, there is professionalism among the resistance factions in Gaza – planning, command and control – and they also have accumulated experience in guerrilla warfare, as the Palestinian fighter knows that this defense system does not work in close combat.

Investigation results

Regarding the Israeli army’s investigations, the military expert said that its results confirm the story of the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – regarding the targeting of the Israeli armored vehicle with the “Al-Yassin 105” missile, but the occupation doubted and said that the explosion was an explosive device, before acknowledging this through its initial investigation. .

He pointed out that the “Al-Yassin 105” missile contains two charges, the first of which is tasked with penetrating the outer wall of the armored vehicle, and the second is tandem, with the aim of entering and exploding.

Yesterday, Saturday, Al-Qassam said that it targeted a “D9” bulldozer with an “Al-Yassin 105” shell in the Saudi neighborhood of Tal Al-Sultan, west of the city of Rafah, leaving its crew dead and wounded. Immediately upon the arrival of a rescue force, it targeted a “Nimr” troop carrier with a shell of the same type. Which led to its destruction and the death of all its members.

In turn, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed that a deputy company commander and 7 fighters from the engineering unit were killed in a large explosion, indicating that after informing the families of the explosion victims, their names will be published.
