On July 11th, in front of the Cassina Cave in the Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah, the 30 ISIs of the terrorist PKK- 15 men and 15 women- were burned, in a symbolic move that would have made important changes not only in Turkey, but throughout the Middle East.
This step came as a result of a path that the Turkish state initiated and called “Türkiye is free of terrorism.”
Thus, the dream of the separation that chased the terrorist organization PKK for fifty years as ashes in a destiny in which weapons were burned.
In 1973, the terrorist separatists gathered around Abdullah Ocalan under the name “Apogin”, and at a meeting held on November 27, 1978 in the Plas-Li-Laids Plain, Diyarbakir- the “PKK” organization or PKK was established.
After the implementation of an assassination on July 29, 1979, the MP, Muhammad Ali Boujaq, left the perpetrators of the operation a leaflet called “the decision of the first conference”, in which they announced the start of their collective terrorist activity by demanding “the establishment of a popular dictatorship in a unified and independent Kurdistan.”
On August 15, 1984, they launched attacks on Erwa and Sadinli, and shot for the first time on official staff, which resulted in the death of two soldiers and nine civilians, to begin since then the wave of terrorism that claimed the lives of nearly 15 thousand official and civil citizens, including police, soldiers, guards, teachers, doctors, and nurses, as well as causing economic losses It was estimated to be trillions of dollars.
Since 1984, 46 thousand and 276 elements of the terrorist organization have been eliminated in forty years of confrontation. The supreme goal of PKK was to undermine the historical brotherhood between the Turks and the Kurds that extended a thousand years, but it failed to do so, as it was unable to destabilize the bonds of this brotherhood.
The power of the Turkish state, despite all the support that the organization received from the imperialist forces, forced this terrorist organization that has been fifty years ago.
On February 27, 2025, Abdullah Ocalan- who was arrested in 1999 and was sentenced to life imprisonment- announced an ideological solution to the organization. Ocalan, founder of the PKK organization, which was launched in 1979 under the pretext of establishing a “popular dictatorship in a unified and independent Kurdistan”, announced 52 years after the establishment of the organization that this separatist project is no longer possible, and said:
“The idea of the separate national state, federal, administrative autonomy, and cultural solutions- which is the result of extremist national drift- no longer answers the questions of historical sociology.
With the collapse of realistic socialism in the 1990s due to internal factors, and with the disintegration of the country’s identity’s disintegration policy, and the developments that have occurred in freedom of expression, the PKK organization occurred in an intellectual vacuum and excessive repetition.
Accordingly, the organization has exhausted its life, as happened with its counterparts, and its solution became inevitable. All factions must throw their weapons, and the PKK must be permissible. “
Thus, there are no longer demands to establish a separate state, a federal system, or even demands for an official culture or an official language. Since the separation is no longer proposed, the PKK-which was described by Ocalan as a “fearful meaning”- no longer has any necessity.
The changes in the anti -terrorism method after the coup attempt led by the Gulen terrorist organization on July 15, 2016, and the development of Turkish defense industries, and the success of Turkish intelligence in implementing accurate operations, showed that the terrorist problem that previous governments sought to solve negotiations can be resolved with the actual confrontation.
The operations were not limited to the Turkish interior only, but the Euphrates Shield, olive branch, and the spring of peace- which were carried out in Syria, resulted in the opposition of the United States and Russia- the establishment of safe areas, and the “claw” operations that took place in Iraq were decisive stations in combating terrorism.
Through accurate operations carried out by the National Intelligence Service, about 200 PKK leaders were eliminated, which paralyzed its leadership. The organization, which no longer has an actual presence inside Türkiye, has become unable to move in Syria and Iraq, and it was defeated without being able to achieve any of its goals.
As for the global developments, especially the results of the American elections, it has shown that the European and American support for PKK is on its way to disappearing. The remaining support- by Israel, and some parties in Iran- are no longer enough to keep it alive.
The Syrian revolution, which won on December 8, 2024, has pushed the existing entity in Syria represented by PKK/ PYD-YPG towards integration with the new regime.
The leaders of the PKK- In their twelfth conference, which was held between 5 and 7 May 2025- announced the organization of the organization from an organizational point of view, after Ocalan had previously announced it in ideas, as follows:
“The Pkk XII conference made a decision to solve the organizational structure of the organization and end the style of armed struggle, ending all the activities that were managed in the name of PKK.”
Although there are statements within the PKK organization opposing the arms, the messages of Ocalan, especially the last video photographed with the voice and the image in which he repeated the invitation, did not leave the members of the organization any option other than burning weapons, even symbolic.
It is known that the PKK organization is an entity that has arms in Iraq, Iran, and Syria, in addition to Türkiye. After weapons were burned in Iraq, it is expected that thousands of other weapons that are still in their possession will be delivered.
On the other hand, the liquidation of its wing in Iran known as PJAK, its Syrian wing PYD/YPG, and the integration of the elements that are not involved in crimes in the structure of the Syrian regime, are existing goals.
Omar Chilic, deputy head of the Justice and Development Party and spokesman for the ruling party, affirmed Türkiye’s firm position by saying:
“The disarmament process is not limited to the organization of PKK, but it should also include its extensions such as PYD/SDG and PJAK, as well as illegal ideological and financial structures such as KCK.
Türkiye runs this path without any third party, through a autonomous mechanism. The National Intelligence Service and the Turkish Armed Forces monitor developments on the ground with firmness.
This operation, which was launched at the invitation of Mr. Dolht Hachli, is now a country project with the will of President Erdogan. Our goal is Türkiye free of terrorism. This process represents peace and security for all the peoples of the region from Turkmen, Arabs, Kurds, Yazidis, Alawites, Sunnis and Shiites. It will no longer be allowed to cause terrorist organizations to cause massacres against people through proxy wars.
Regional developments have played a decisive role in the PKK delivery to this stage. Especially since the relationship developed by Syrian President Ahmed Al -Shara, with US President Donald Trump was very impressive.
The American ambassador to Türkiye and the special envoy to Syria, Tom Barak, made statements indicating the change of American policy towards the YPG:
The SDG is YPG, and YPG is a branch of PKK. And PKK has started today to throw his weapon, and this is a big step for Turkey.
We do not condemn the Turkish state towards YPG with something. We fought with them against the Islamic State, and this imposes an ethical religion on us, but we cannot accept a state within the state.
This does not mean that we are on our way to create free Kurdistan in Syria, nor a separate SDG country, nor an Alawite or Jewish state. There is one Syria, which is restructured. It will have its constitution and parliament.
There must be one flag and one country in Syria. The United States cannot play the role of mediator forever in Syria. If they do not agree with the Syrian government, they will not agree. And if they want a new road map, then this is their case.
His statement that YPG is a branch of PKK, and that they are against the establishment of a federal entity in Syria, reveals a fundamental shift in American policy towards the region.
The United States, which has provided PYD/YPG- since 2013- with 60,000 trucks of weapons and ammunition under the pretext of fighting the Islamic State, and offering them hundreds of millions of dollars annually, shows today by changing its policy that it will take weapons as it was the one who presented it.
Because the United States, and has preferred its major interests that it expects from its new relationship with the Syrian regime, is no longer ready to bear the instability that may arise from any separatist entity run by the PKK branch in Syria.
Hence, it chose to cooperate with Turkey- the strongest country in the region, which has a clear decision to liquidate this organization- instead of continuing an endless relationship with a terrorist organization that constitutes a constant threat to it.
Thus, the PKK organization, whose existence has been derived for fifty years of Russian, then European support, and Iranian, and finally the American, is today missing all this international support.
There is no one left in front of this terrorist organization, whose entire entity was based on external support, except for one option: throwing weapons.
There may be a weak exception to support Zionist Zionist with ethical tendency, but even this support will not be sufficient to keep an organization like PKK alive.
