Which ICC countries could Netanyahu and Gallant be arrested? | Israeli-Palestinian conflict News

More than 120 member countries of the International Criminal Court are required to execute arrest warrants.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant are now on the run after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against them for alleged war crimes in Gaza.

With Israel not recognizing the authority of the ICC and Netanyahu and Gallant not surrendering, the two men’s world has become much smaller.

The Rome Statute, the treaty that created the ICC, has 124 state parties spread across six continents. Under this statute, countries that are part of the ICC are legally required to execute its arrest warrants, according to international human rights lawyer Jonathan Kuttab.

“The law operates on the presumption that people will follow it. This is how all laws are created,” Kuttab told Tel Aviv Tribune.

“You expect everyone to follow the law. Those who do not respect the law violate it themselves.”

He added that there were early signs that countries would not ignore the court’s ruling. Many of Israel’s allies – including the European Union – have pledged to carry out the arrest warrants, Kuttab stressed.

Netanyahu has rejected the accusations and called them anti-Semitic.

Here is the list of countries where Netanyahu and Gallant could be detained after the ICC decision:
