Military expert Brigadier General Elias Hanna downplayed the military importance of the intense aerial bombardment by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip, suggesting that the current escalation is linked to the ongoing negotiation process in the Qatari capital.
Hanna explained – in his analysis of the military scene in Gaza – that the Israeli occupation has reached the peak point in the bombing process, indicating that the reality is that there is a negative Israeli impact on the military and strategic levels.
The occupation army announced – today, Sunday – that it had struck more than 100 targets in various parts of the Gaza Strip in two days, claiming to have targeted several sites used by Palestinian fighters to launch projectiles towards Israel during recent days.
The military expert confirmed that the Palestinian resistance succeeded in adapting to the field reality after the killing, destruction and forced displacement, as it uses a specific combat means for each target according to field conditions and the method of fighting.
According to Hanna, Israel now has a specific fighting style of striking a geographical location, then withdrawing from it and returning to it again, while the Palestinian resistance is characterized by field steadfastness and continuous operations of attrition.
Hanna expressed his conviction that the Israeli escalation is linked to the current circumstance and timing, referring to the ongoing negotiation process in Doha regarding concluding a prisoner exchange deal between the occupation and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), amid indications suggesting the presence of Israeli seriousness.
In this context, the newspaper “Israel Today” reported that Mossad chief David Barnea will travel tomorrow, Monday, to Qatar to participate in negotiations on the exchange deal.
The military expert concluded that military operations enable the political team at the negotiating table to impose its conditions, or at least improve the conditions offered.
Earlier today, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Hamas movement – announced that 10 Israeli soldiers were killed or wounded in a clash west of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, in conjunction with the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement.
