After a year 2023 full of surprises, several major events are already expected for 2024. From the American presidential election to the Paris Olympic Games, including the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris and the European elections, most of which will have significant repercussions on the international situation.
Editor-in-chief and cartoonist of the comics magazine Bendir, Le Hic offers, for Cartooning for Peace, his own illustrated version of this transition to the new year.
The Algerian cartoonist has been producing for Le Soir d’Algérie since 2006, and his drawings can currently be found in the Algerian news daily El Watan and in Courrier International. Le Hic was sued numerous times, notably when he worked at Le Matin. He received eight trials for formal defamation and for contempt of the President of the Republic with a three-month suspended prison sentence in 2005 for one of his drawings.
Cartooning for Peace is an international network of cartoonists committed to promoting, through the universality of press cartoons, freedom of expression, human rights and mutual respect between populations of different cultures or beliefs.
