The Ophthalmology Association in Germany said that the eye flu is a very infection disease caused by glandular viruses, explaining that these severe resistance germs are transmitted by contact infection, for example when rubbing the eye after shaking hands with an infected person or touching the door handles or the hybrid ladders.
Symptoms
The association added that the symptoms of eye flu are the redness, swelling of the eye, feeling itching, burning it, and increasing tear secretions, and sometimes swelling of the lymph nodes in the ear.
After viruses attack one eye, the other eye usually also attacks, and people with vision problems often suffer due to corneal inflammation and conjunctivitis.
Diagnosis
And to determine if what Glandular viruses were the cause, the doctor first took a smear from the eye using a cotton piece, then the cells in the eye secretions are analyzed in the laboratory.
In the event of viruses, the ophthalmia is likely to diagnose. In the event that bacteria are discovered, the risk of conjunctivitis increases.
Treatment
The association indicated that the eye flu is treated with anti -inflammatory eye drops, knowing that antibiotics are not useful, given that the infection is viral, not bacterial.
In the case of dry eyes, eye drops or eye ointments containing moisturizing substances – such as hyaluronic acid or dexpantineol – can provide a sufficient tear layer.
It is taken into account that the person with eye flu will not go to work or school until he is completely recovered, given that the disease is very infected, knowing that the incubation period is about two weeks.
