Occupied Jerusalem- While the year 2023 expires, leaving tens of thousands martyred and wounded and hundreds of thousands displaced, the eyes of the Palestinians in Jerusalem turn to 2024, all of them hoping that it will be a year of security and stability.

Tel Aviv Tribune Net met a number of Jerusalemite citizens and asked them about their wishes for the coming year, as Gaza and Jerusalem were the most important to them.

Khaled Al-Salfiti says that his wish is for “peace and love to prevail in the world and for war to end, whether in our country or in the countries of the whole world.”

Meanwhile, Ribhi Al-Amad hopes that God will relieve the distress, that the grief will pass for all the Palestinian people, and that everyone in the new year will be “well and in peace, especially our people in Gaza, as there are harsh and painful scenes.”

In turn, Zuhair Ghaith says that his wish is that “justice and justice will prevail and that the year 2024 will be a year of goodness and relief for all Muslims.”

As for Salah Al-Halhouli, he said that his wish is “all the best for the people of the country,” and he compares the previously crowded Jerusalem to the empty one today, “I hope it will be a good year for us and for the country.”

Adnan Jaafar hopes that the war on Gaza will end and “stability, peace and security will return to the people of Gaza.”

For his part, Issa Abu Rumaila wishes “a year of goodness and happiness for all Palestinian Jerusalemites, and that the war and tragedy we are experiencing will end,” expressing his optimism for the new year.

Since the start of the aggression against Gaza on October 7, the city of Jerusalem has been living under the influence of escalating tension, amid strict Israeli measures, extensive deployment of checkpoints, and preventing access to Al-Aqsa Mosque except for the elderly and within a limited scope.
