Gaza- The new year 2024 has arrived for the residents of the Gaza Strip, in the wake of the bloodiest and most destructive war launched by Israel on the 7th of last October, during which more than 21,000 Palestinians were martyred and nearly 56,000 injured, the majority of the martyrs and wounded being women and children.

Tel Aviv Tribune Net toured the streets of the city of Rafah, in the far south of the Gaza Strip on the border with Egypt, and asked passers-by one question, “What do you wish for in 2024?” Their wishes were dominated by the end of the war, the cessation of the cascade of blood, and the return of the displaced to their homes from which they were forced to flee.

Citizens in the city of Rafah and those displaced there said, “We have the right to live in safety and peace, just like the rest of the world’s countries. We hope that the Israeli massacres and crimes will stop and that we will return to our homes and lands.”

The Israeli war caused the displacement of 85% of the 2.2 million Palestinians in the small coastal strip. Among the displaced were more than a million who took refuge in the city of Rafah, residing in the homes of relatives and friends, in shelter centers in schools, and in tent camps.
