An official in a Sudanese health organization warned of the high number of cholera deaths in several regions in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, and other regions west of Sudan.
A spokesman for the “Sudan Doctors Network” told Al -Jazeera that there is difficulty in delivering humanitarian aid to El Fasher and other regions.
Special photos obtained by Al -Jazeera from the “long” camp for the displaced, North Darfur, revealed that the camp is overcrowded with hundreds of people with the epidemic, in light of the scarcity of water and the almost complete absence of medical services.
The IDP Coordinator in Darfur confirmed that the epidemic is spreading within the camps that lack the lowest health care ingredients.
A medical source from inside the camp told the island that the health situation is getting worse day by day, with the increasing number of injured people and the lack of treatment or food.
During the recent days, the local health authorities in the camps of the displaced and refugees on the border between Sudan and Chad and an accelerated outbreak of cholera, especially west of Al -Fasher in the Darfur region.
The general coordinator of the displaced and refugees in Darfur, western Sudan, revealed the registration of 26 deaths and more than 1430 people with cholera in a long city located 68 km west of El Fasher. She warned of an “accelerated outbreak” of the epidemic that threatens the camps and unpaid shelter centers in the region.
