Ukrainian officials are reportedly concerned about the possibility of large Russian territorial gains over the summer if there are continued delays in Western security assistance.

The Bloomberg news agency reported that internal Ukrainian assessments indicate that Russian advances along the front line could gain significant momentum by next summer, unless Ukraine’s partners increase their supplies of artillery ammunition.

Some of the most intense fighting still continues west of Adviivka, in the east of the country. Russian forces are advancing and have reportedly captured several settlements in the region.

Geotagged images show that Russian forces advanced into fields south and southwest of Stepove (northwest of Avdiivka) as well as northwest of Lastochkyne, west of Avdiivka.

Bloomberg also reported that sources close to Ukrainian leaders said Ukraine expected Russian forces to choose to continue their current focus on incremental tactical advances and would prepare for a broader breakthrough attempt, in depending on the results of current Russian offensive operations.
