At least 11 people killed as Russia continues its offensive in northeastern Ukraine.
In the Kharkiv region, the center of the offensive, the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office said that six people killed and 27 injured in Russian attack on outskirts of regional capitalalso called Kharkiv.
The governor of the region, Oleh Syniehubov, said that five other people were killed and nine injured in an attack in the Kupiansk district, southeast of the regional capital.
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that its forces in the region “continued to advance into the depths of the enemy’s defenses“. The Ukrainian General Staff said that Russia had intensified its attacks around Kharkiv and that the situation was “dynamic.”
Russia launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region at the end of last weeksignificantly increasing pressure on the Ukrainian forces, which are outnumbered and lacking weaponswho expect crucial weapons and ammunition from their Western partners.
Ukrainian forces overwhelmed are trying to slow down Russia on the new front using bomb-laden drones to destroy military vehicles.
Moscow also announced in a statement on Monday the capture of the village of Bilogorivka, one of the last to escape him in the Lugansk region of which Russia claims annexation.
Ukraine stated that the Russian advance has now been stoppedwhich Moscow denies.
On Monday, local authorities claimed that Ukrainian troops control about 60% of the city of Vovchansklocated in the northeastern region of Kharkiv.
