As fighting and bombardment continues in Gaza, truce talks are set to resume in Doha this Sunday between Qatar, Israel and Egypt to discuss Hamas’ latest hostage exchange proposal. The Israeli delegation is led by Mossad Director David Barnea.

On the ground, according to Palestinian sources, more than 30 people, mostly from the same family, were killed by an Israeli airstrike in the Nuseirat refugee camp. The bombing reportedly took place as the family was gathering to prepare a meal during Ramadan.

In Israel, this time, anti-government demonstrators gathered again on Saturday, by the tens of thousands in Tel Aviv. They demand that the government accepts the plan to release the hostages. Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet was to announce this Sunday that the date of October 7 will become a national day of commemoration, in memory of the hundreds of victims of the Hamas attack.

As part of another peace initiative, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is traveling to the Middle East, first to Jordan, and is expected to arrive in Israel next. Its main objective is to allow more humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the Spanish-flagged ship “Open Arms” reportedly unloaded its cargo and headed back to Larnaka. Cypriot authorities told media that a second ship was ready to leave the port heading to Gaza following the same route, but no further details are available at this time.
