The Israeli army announces the death of three Israeli hostages killed “by mistake” by its soldiers. She also confirmed the death of Franco-Israeli Elya Toledano.
The Israeli army announced this Friday that soldiers operating in the Gaza Strip had killed three Israeli hostages “misidentified” as a “threat”. The families of the hostages have all been informed, the Israeli army added in a statement.
The victims are Yotam Haïm, a 28-year-old heavy metal drummer, and Samer Al-Talalqa, a 25-year-old Bedouin, both kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Am during the deadly Hamas attack in southern Israel on 7 October, specifies an army press release. The third hostage killed was Alon Lulu Shamriz, 26, a resident of Kibbutz Kfar Aza, according to the same source. Their bodies were repatriated to Israel.
“During the fighting in Shijayia, the IDF mistakenly identified three Israeli hostages as a threat. Troops fired on them and they were killed. Their bodies were transferred to Israeli territory for examination” said Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli army.
Earlier, the Israeli army confirmed the death of Franco-Israeli Elya Toledano, missing since October 7. Around a hundred people gathered in Paris to support hostages held in Gaza by Hamas and its affiliated groups. Sandra Ifrah, spokesperson for Women United for Peace, was present: “there are only three French people left, and not four last night, detained, dead or missing, or hostages in the tunnels held by the monsters of Hamas , and we are here simply to never, ever forget every hostage.”
So far, 110 hostages have been released, and 129 people remain detained in the Gaza Strip. Israeli authorities have not been able to confirm whether they are all still alive.
