Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s surprise visit to Norway is focused on “safeguarding” the freedom of Ukraine and Norway.
Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky has urged his European allies to release financial and military aid to his country.
Speaking to journalists in the Norwegian capital on Wednesday, Volodymyr Zelensky called on European countries to continue their aid.
“Of course we can’t win without help”declared Volodymyr Zelensky, during a press conference organized after a meeting with the Norwegian Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre. “But we can’t lose because the only thing we have is our country”.
In the United States as within the European Union, the payment of tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine is currently hampered by internal divisions.
The military counter-offensive launched in June by the Ukrainian army did not bring the expected results and the Ukrainian president is seeking to revitalize his allies among whom divisions are appearing.
Arriving in Oslo early in the morning, Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with the leaders of the five Nordic countries – Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.
“We will discuss strengthening military, political and economic cooperation, as well as our common future in Europe”wrote Volodymyr Zelensky on X, formerly Twitter.
In an open letter published in the Financial Times, the five Nordic leaders said that “Ukraine can only defend itself against Russia with words” and “war is not won without weapons”.
“Now is not the time to weaken.”they added.
