After Argentina, the Ukrainian president goes to the United States on Tuesday. He hopes for the release of aid to his country.
Volodymyr Zelensky was in Argentina on Sunday for the inauguration ceremony of new President Javier Milei. The Ukrainian head of state greeted a “new beginning for Argentina” and met his counterparts from Ecuador, Uruguay and Paraguay.
He will then travel to Washington on Tuesday to meet US President Joe Biden and House Republican Leader Mike Johnson. Republicans recently voted against providing additional aid to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, in Kyiv, relatives of Ukrainian soldiers held captive by the Russians demonstrated. In many cases they have no contact with them and do not even know if they are still alive.
Former prisoner of war Valeria Subotina, a member of the Azov brigade who distinguished herself for her resistance in the Azovstal industrial complex, explains their objective: “We want to draw the attention of the international community to this problem because they might find a way to influence the Russian Federation to release our soldiers.”
Kyiv claims to have shot down eight Russian missiles targeting the capital last night, while in the east of the country, the commander of ground troops describes the situation as “difficult“.
On Monday, the United Kingdom is to announce new military support measures for Kyiv. London is already committed to providing two anti-mine ships to strengthen security in the Black Sea and allow Ukraine to secure its grain exports.
