The Russian president signed a decree to replace Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and appoint him secretary of Russia’s Security Council, the Kremlin said on Sunday.
Vladimir Putin wants to appoint Sergei Shoigu as secretary of the Russian Security Council, replacing Nikolai Patrushev, and give him responsibilities in the military-industrial structure, the Kremlin said on Sunday.
Vladimir Putin has proposed the name of Andrei Belousov, former deputy prime minister, to serve as defense minister.
As for Sergei Lavrov, he retains his post at the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Valery Gerasimov is also expected to remain in his post as chief of staff of the Russian armed forces.
