In Qatar 365, we discover some of the country’s leading visual arts, starting with highlights from the 5th edition of the Qatar International Arts Festival. Bringing together more than 300 artists from more than 60 countries, this festival is one of the largest in the country.

Aadel Haleem met Irina Tosheva, a Macedonian designer committed to a sustainable development approach. Irina reuses and recycles many materials, such as pieces of glass collected on the beach to transform them into jacket buttons.

Sara Khalid Al Hail, a Qatari artist, says her passion for art began almost at the same time as the launch of the festival, which offered her an ideal place to showcase her artwork.

But in Qatar, visual art is not limited to indoor spaces. The city of Doha is decorated with numerous murals. Initiatives such as World Wide Walls have evolved this form of public art. Its founder, Jasper Wong, explained to Aadel Haleem the impact this type of art has on urban spaces and how public perception has evolved positively over the years.

Laila Humairah discovered why art is considered the mirror of the spirit and is increasingly used as a healing tool and form of therapy. Colors and creativity allow you to express emotions when words are not enough.

Hala Aljaafari is one of 30 artists who presented their works at the Qatar Foundation’s Artful Minds exhibition. She invites everyone to grab a paintbrush and try their hand at art with the goal of instant relief.
