Unrest spread to other British cities on Tuesday after far-right social media falsely claimed that the suspect in Monday’s stabbing attack in Southport, which killed three girls and injured several others, was an asylum seeker.

Keir Starmer condemned the unrest, calling it “acts of thuggery”.
