Formerly kept in the gardens, the hens are now walking through the streets of neighborhoods like Little Havana and even around skyscrapers and government buildings in the city center.
In 2002, Little Havana cemented the status of the rooster with a journey of imposing statues along the Calle Ocho.
More than two decades later, dozens of these colorful statues, designed by the late artist Pedro Damián, continue to attract tourists.
