A vigil marking the 35th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown in Beijing was held in London on Tuesday evening outside the Chinese embassy.
A crowd of about 300 people gathered in a cordoned off area in front of the embassy, many holding candles or turning on the lights on their phones.
At the foot of a barrier, the number “64” was spelled out with candles, representing June 4, the day Chinese troops opened fire on pro-democracy demonstrators, killing hundreds, if not thousands, of people.
