Although the front lines are far to the east, Lviv welcomes the field of Mars in the Lychakiv cemetery, where rows of Ukrainian flags mark the tombs of the soldiers who fell from the region. Many of those who are buried here are young, their lives having ended shortly after having started.
The cemetery regularly grows as new ones are buried, each farewell recalling that the distance offers no escape from sorrow.
LVIV has also become the place where European leaders supported the creation of a court to continue the alleged Russian war crimes, considered by many as a small step towards justice in the midst of continuous losses.
