The celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands in Wageningen were disturbed by pro-Palestine demonstrators.
The Dutch Minister of Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans was interrupted with the cries of “Free Palestine” (release Palestine), resulting in the arrest of five people.
Despite this disruption, Brekelmans continued, joined by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who then called for European unity. But the ceremony was marked by a new incident a little later when a smoke grenade was launched on the stage, forcing the security agents to exfiltrate the Prime Ministers
The ceremony took place near the site where the German forces went in 1945, officially ending the occupation.
