Japan’s grand sumo champion Terunofuji took part in an annual sumo ritual on Tuesday to officially kick off the wrestling season.
The Mongolian-born Yokozuna prayed for success at the upcoming January tournament, as fans braved the cold to attend the ceremony. Terunofuji, sumo’s only Yokozuna, withdrew from the November tournament due to injury.
