The storm, pushed by powerful winds, obscured the sky and forced residents to stay inside while clouds of dust covered the region.
Riyadh, the capital of the kingdom, was also affected. Clouds of dust swept the city, obscuring the horizon and disturbing daily life while the inhabitants were looking for refuge inside.
The National Meteorology Center for Saudi Arabia has issued prior warnings, in particular for Al Qassim, where visibility fell to almost zero.
The authorities advised motorists to drive with extreme caution, while motorway patrols have been deployed to manage the dangerous conditions on the main roads.
