It was the third and last phase of an exchange agreed during the talks in Istanbul, where the two parties undertook to release 1,000 prisoners each.
The exchange of prisoners, which included civilians, was the only concrete step towards peace to emerge from the meeting.
Despite the continuous violence, including a deadly attack at La Roquette on Kyiv a few hours earlier, the transfer took place.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the completion of the exchange, declaring on X on Sunday that “303 Ukrainian defenders returned home”.
