General of Division Scott Sherman, who directs the Task Force 51, said that more than 4,000 members of the National Guard and 700 Marines participate in a security operation in Los Angeles, where demonstrations have sometimes degenerated into violence.
2,000 other childcare members should be deployed on Thursday to strengthen the protection of federal buildings.
Sherman refused to say when the navies could be sent to the city, but confirmed that all the staff receives specialized training to manage disorders, with additional investigation for those who support immigration raids.
