Once upon a time there were three little pigs… In fact, there could be much more, and they don’t care about the big bad wolf, they are zen.
Wilbur, Charlotte and Bluey are the latest attractions in the growing animal yoga trend.
They were right at home in a vinyasa flow class, alternately darting and strolling among yoga fans and a lone yoga instructor, and using their soft pink snouts to dig in the backyard while their human companions undertook a mix of difficult and easy poses.
Stacey Delbridge drove an hour and 45 minutes from her home in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, to the town of Spencer in central Massachusetts to participate.
The 50-minute session with three piglets, two rabbits and a goat was her first yoga experience.
“The best thing about piglet yoga was, of course, the piglets and how cute they are,” she says.
They also offer an easy way to avoid more difficult yoga poses, she adds.
“They were funny, you know. Just when you got to a point where you needed a break, you had a wonderful visitor coming to see you, and you could stop without seeming like a quitter. They’re adorable. They’re adorable.”
The piglets seemed to want to burn off their excess energy during the yoga class, embarking on energetic runs among the participants, even as the two rabbits and Munchie, the goat, slowly and methodically searched for tasty shoots in the back. courtyard where the course took place.
Piglet yoga classes are so popular that they typically sell out within 24 hours of launching, according to Ashley Bousquet, owner of Beyond Yoga & Wellness.
