Between Fantasy Fest in Florida or an annual march of the “living dead” in Santiago (Chile), rotten meat enthusiasts had plenty of choices across the Atlantic.
Key West’s annual Fantasy Fest costume and mask festival is underway on the subtropical island, and Sunday’s zombie bike ride brought together several thousand “bicycle deaths” prowling the coastline and streets of the Atlantic Ocean of the island.
Many attendees wore “traditional” gory zombie clothing paired with frightening face and body paint, while others wore creative costumes ranging from evil clowns and pirates to undead brides in tattered dresses.
Standout characters included a big-eyed bug that towered over the crowd, an excursion train carrying “zombie tourists,” an oversized Frankenstein’s monster, and a green-skinned creature pedaling a silver “spaceship” .
Thousands of people dressed as zombies marched through Santiago on Sunday during the Chilean capital’s annual “zombie march”.
Participants gathered in Plaza Italia before marching to Almagro Park, where several musical groups gave free concerts to entertain the “living dead.”
A man dressed as the Chilean president, Gabriel Boric, was among the participants.
The annual parade is held in the run-up to Halloween and the traditional Day of the Dead.
The tradition of “zombie walks” originated in the United States and later spread to Europe and Latin American countries.
