In the Sultanate of Brunei, Prince Abdul Mateen, one of the most popular royal figures in Southeast Asia, married his fiancée in pomp during a ceremony that lasted 10 days.
The 32-year-old prince, once considered one of the most envied bachelors, married Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic, 29, in a ceremony that began on January 7 and will end on Tuesday.
A solemn ceremony took place Thursday in a mosque.
Abdul Mateen is the fourth son and tenth child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, one of the richest men in the world.
Although sixth in line to the throne, the prince has risen to prominence in recent years by accompanying his father on diplomatic engagements.
The newlywed, who plays polo and is a helicopter pilot in the Royal Brunei Air Force, has 2.5 million followers on Instagram.
Sunday’s main wedding reception, at the 1,788-room palace, will see a large number of royalty and international dignitaries, as well as a parade in the capital, Bandar Sri Begawan.
