Yuanyuan, Taiwan’s oldest female panda, celebrated her 20th birthday Friday morning with dozens of her fans at the Taipei Zoo. Yuanyuan is the world’s first female panda to give birth to cubs in Taiwan.

Yuanyuan, born in 2004, arrived in Taiwan from China in 2008 with a male panda named Tuantuan as part of a cultural exchange program with China. Tuantuan, with whom she had two cubs named Yuanbao and Yuanzai, died in November 2022 at the age of 18.

Yuanyuan’s cubs are both females. Yuanzai is currently 11 years old and Yuanbao is 4 years old.
