The pumpkins will be carved into spooky characters – and a Wolverhampton man has become an expert pumpkin artist.
At the same time, the Bratislava Zoo organized an autumn festival. Visitors could, among other activities, carve a pumpkin which will then be eaten by the animals. In colder weather, they will enhance their menu. Exotic species, in particular, must be properly prepared for winter by breeders.
The animals also have a special diet during the winter. Birds, in particular, are sensitive to temperature changes. Some simply need to be insulated, others go to heated rooms.
