President Lai Ching-te asserted that China had no right to represent Taiwan, rejecting China’s claim to Taiwan. He also said China should shoulder its international responsibilities and work with Taiwan to contribute to the peace, security and prosperity of the region and the world.
The day was marked by speeches and performances, but without heavy military equipment.
