After the passage of Cyclone Chido, the worst storm to hit Mayotte in almost a century, rescue operations continue. France has deployed military ships and aircraft to provide emergency aid.

In Strasbourg, the European Parliament observed a minute of silence for the victims. The president, Roberta Metsola, pledged her support, saying: “Mayotte is Europe, and Europe will never abandon you.”
