400 seats of deputies are to be renewed. At the end of the vote they will be called upon to elect the president of South Africa, to replace or renew Cyril Ramaphosa.

It is customary for the leader of the majority party to be elected president, but the ANC (Nelson Mandela’s party), in power for 30 years, could lose its majority. He is credited with 40 to 46% of voting intentions.
