On December 5, the installation of the Christmas tree was completed and decorations began on the Hagia Sophia Square in Kyiv.

The Christmas tree is 15 meters high. The branches of the tree are white and decorated with blue baubles, with a Christmas star at the top.

The official opening of the country’s main Christmas tree will take place on Friday, December 6, St. Nicholas Day. It will remain in place until January 10.

This year, Christmas and New Year celebrations in Kyiv will take place without gatherings, mass events, fairs and entertainment. Only photo zones will be set up on Place Sainte-Sophie, as well as two souvenir sales points.

The Christmas tree Rockefeller Center was illuminated for the first time Wednesday evening in the center of Manhattanthus kicking off the holiday season.

More than 50,000 multi-colored, energy-efficient LED lights decorate the 74-foot Norway spruce tree located in Manhattan’s Center Plaza. This year’s tree comes from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and it’s the first to come from the state since 1959. The 11-ton, 43-foot-wide tree is topped with a sparkling Swarovski star wreath of 3 million crystals.
